STRIVE Birmingham Celebrates 2-Year Anniversary, Fresh Start Launch and New Location Reveal

This summer marks the 2-year anniversary of STRIVE Birmingham, and we are deeply proud of the growth and impact of our programs and partnerships that continue to thrive in the region.

In May we graduated the inaugural cohort of Fresh Start in Birmingham, preparing justice-impacted individuals 25+ for careers in logistics and telecommunications. In June we held a reception for community partners to mark our 2-year anniversary and reveal our new location in Woodlawn at 5515 First Ave. N. This fully renovated, 7,000 square-foot facility will open in late 2025 and provide greater program capacity and increased access for students as we prepare to add Future Leaders programming for justice-impacted individuals 18-24.

Ayesha George, STRIVE New York Executive Director

STRIVE is proud to deepen our partnership with NYCETC as our New York Executive Director, Ayesha George, joins the Executive Committee. NYCETC is a powerful advocate for systems change that reflects the realities of historically marginalized New Yorkers. Together, we can build a workforce that is truly equitable, community-informed and opportunity-rich.

“At STRIVE, we are deeply committed to ensuring that all New Yorkers—particularly those who have been historically marginalized—have access to gainful employment and economic opportunity. Every day, we support individuals who are motivated and ready to work but are forced to navigate systems that were not built for them—or worse, built to exclude them. My appointment to the NYCETC Board and now its Executive Committee provides a meaningful opportunity to influence workforce policies, amplify the needs of our communities, and help build systems that are equitable, accountable, and truly designed to work for all.”
